About the event

SOLD OUT - Please add your name to WAIT LIST if you'd like to join us. It is not uncommon, especially during winter months, for someone to cancel at the last minute. Currently there is no one on the wait list.

An evening of cooking and enjoying good food, drink and culture with others for a great cause!

What would hospitality be with out food??? From the early days of her life as a young woman in the 17th century Jane Frances de Chantal welcomed the hungry from her community into her home for soup and bread. Food has also been central to our offering of hospitality here at the St Jane House. Inspired by the power of food to help connect us across cultures in meaningful ways, we are starting this new series that offers people an opportunity to learn and grow together, as well as share a delicious meal prepared in community.

Join us for the second installment of Cooking with Jane on January 19th where we will feature Venezuelan arepas!

What to expect:

Upon arrival you will be welcomed with a delicious Venezuelan inspired appetizer and mocktail. Guests will introduce themselves and get acquainted with our instructor and one another. After an introduction to the recipes we will be making, you will be given an opportunity to get your hands in the mix to help make the arepas. We will end the evening by enjoying the meal and conversation together at table. Our guest cooking instructor may even serenade us with a Venezuelan song or two. Guests are welcome to bring a bottle of wine to share, if you wish.

For this event, we will be joined by Gerardo Moreno, a native Venezuelan who is excited to share his passion for cooking with us! Gerardo is a musician who works in education, loves to cook for family and friends, and caters events on the side.

This experience is limited to 10 guests and also serves as a fundraiser for the St Jane House. There are several donation levels to make it more accessible. If the tier for which you qualify is full, PLEASE add your name to the waiting list and we will contact you if a spot becomes available. This is not an uncommon occurence.

IMPORTANT NOTE: if you have previously attended a "Cooking with Jane" event in the past 12 months, please add your name to the waiting list, as we are trying to spread the love to as many different people as possible. If a spot opens up, we will be happy to welcome you to another visit!

If you have any questions, or if you are not able to register online or would prefer to pay in another way, please contact Brian at 612.965.9556.
